The last rebuild of this organ was performed in 1995 by N P Mander Ltd when tracker action was used throughout, both cases were brought forward, and the console was repositioned in front of the western case. Most of the manual pipework is new, with the Great, Swell, Choir and enclosed Solo soundboards in the western chamber. The whole of the eastern half is given to the Pedal Organ and unenclosed solo Trompeta. |

It is likely that much of the Great case, either in part or whole, is a survival from the Dallam organ of 1605. Incorporating much pipework from the Hill rebuild of 1859, the instrument has been in the care of Harrison & Harrison Ltd since 1934, and has undergone overhauls in 1968 and 1992. The Choir, Great and Swell Organs sit in the two main cases, whilst the Solo Organ and much of the Pedal pipework sits within the screen. |
