The Holywell Music Room is the world's oldest purpose-built concert hall and was opened in 1748. The present instrument was originally built by John Donaldson of Newcastle in 1790 for Belvedere House, Dublin. Removed from there in a derelict state in 1970 it was restored by N P Mander Ltd and installed in the Music Room in 1985. Further details in the NPOR |
