It might be churlish to expect a disc of Baroque pastoral music to inflame passions or excite the senses. Nevertheless, there is much to enjoy on this second album by the Shropshire-based Borromini Ensemble, not least the luxuriant singing of soprano Sarah Westwood and the stylish contributions by harpsichordist Richard Silk, the group's founder and director. With Alan Davis, a recorder player of considerable refinement, and continuo cellist Jean Gubbins (well known to Birmingham concertgoers) they offer an eclectic selection of works with a countryside theme. ***
