Organists' Review (May 1995)
Both volumes (1 & 2) offer a rich and well-balanced diet of organs and repertoire. The Pembroke organ proves a fascinating contrast to the Trinity organ, both which are Father Smith-inspired instruments. The Mander is more intimate and slightly less clear in tone than the Metzler, possessed of subtle beauties which Anne Page cunningly displays in her nimble-fingered performances of this attractive early repertoire. The Clare Von Beckerath seems to have mellowed over the past 24 years ....Peter Clements understands it well and plays with authority and flair. His programme is a particularly enjoyable one, though the most enjoyable playing of all is that of Philip Rushforth on the voluptuous Abbot and Smith in the dreamily resonant vaulted spaces of the RC church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs... I can heartily recommend this splendid new pair of CDs to you. [extract]
